Menade Verdejo 2010

Just a quickie today. This bottle was brought by a relative from Spain. I don’t drink enough of such wines: simple, inexpensive, quaffable and delicious. It really isn’t a complicated wine, yet it has plenty of interest. It’s fresh, vibrant, varietal and honest. Rueda is a bit like Sauvignon Blanc on steroids: similar herbaceous personality but more fruit and sweetness.
Cheap and cheerful. Perfect Monday wine.
Other points of interest here are organic grapes, a neat modern packaging, and a winning price point: 5.90€. I’d love to drink this wine daily instead of the industrial plonk that is forced on us here in Poland for 6€.
This wine comes from Bodegas Menade and is signed by winemaker Ricardo Sanz. As a side note, I’m losing count of the Sanzs in Rueda. There are several other wineries with the Sanz name: Javier Sanz, Félix Sanz, Vicente Sanz and Vinos Sanz appear to be different from Ricardo, and I also remember the Palacio de Menade being a reliable brand of Rueda. Regardless, this wine is really recommended.
